The Essential Components Of A WordPress Template

WordPress No Comments »

One of the things that seems to put individuals away from using the WordPress application on their own internet site (rather than the hosted WordPress blog site) is the complex aspect of the procedure concerning WordPress templates and themes.  There’s plenty of talk with regards to program code, PHP, CSS and a lot of additional puzzling abbreviations that do not mean a lot to many individuals!  That is regrettable, as a WordPress blog may make such a major effect on websites, and can even be employed as a separate site as soon as you get your domain name and web hosting sorted out.

WordPress Coupon Themes
Understanding just how WordPress functions, installing the application, and figuring out the way the templates fit in to themes may require a bit of techie know-how.   It isn’t as hard as it first seems though, and thankfully, for those of us who are a little technically inhibited, there are a few outstanding instructions and resources that can help make the procedure a whole lot smoother.

The WordPress templates are the anchor of the designs utilized to construct the WordPress weblog pages.  Designs come in various styles and designs, and can be customized by changing the layouts, setting up WordPress plugins and by including or modifying the templates.  WordPress themes are simply a bunch of data files which together make up the themes for your WordPress website.  Typically, a traditional set of templates for WordPress will consist of most of these crucial files:

- index.php,  this is the main template file for your WordPress web site

- header.php, the header format

- footer.php, the footer template

- page.php, for making WordPress pages

- single.php, for creating WordPress posts

- sidebar.php, the WordPress blog navigation

- style.css, the stylesheet that comprises the format for your WordPress site.

These are only the fundamentals; there are several more WordPress templates which can be put in to modify your blog; as an example, links, search forms, archive posts, and blog responses.

WordPress Coupon Plugins
An additional puzzling element for a few individuals is the mention of template tags.  Once more, these aren’t as difficult to comprehend as they first seem.  They’re basically just bits of program code to assist the templates to do their job properly.  The tags inside the templates have the guidelines to make your website a cleverly created group of pages!

Among the great things about WordPress templates is that you could customize them to design specific blog pages in addition to post pages.  The pre-defined templates will most likely apply to all the pages in your blog, but you can add, get rid of or change the other template files to make unique things on each and every page.

If you think about the WordPress templates as the mechanics of the designs, you can with any luck , start to realize how they interact to generate a WordPress site.

Tell the entire Blog community as a whole that your Blog site is up and running

Blogging, Tips, WordPress No Comments »

Some of the very biggest buzz words on the internet right now are Blogging and Pinging. Many internet gurus claim these are the essentials for attracting visitors to your site.

The best kind of blog lets readers put in their 2 cents worth. People love to be able to voice their opinions, and tend to get frustrated when they can’t. Thus, the best blog is an online discussion web site that allows both you the web owner and your readers to voice their opinions on a specific subject.

So where do you begin? Well, for one thing, your blog needs to be specific to succeed, unless you’re a celebrity. People will go to Paris Hilton’s site to read just about any fool thing she writes off the top of her head, but don’t think you can do that. I know it’s not fair, but that’s how it is.

If you’re not famous, you need to focus on a niche topic. For instance rather than run a Blog on dogs why not specialize in black labs or some other breed? I guarantee you, if you put a cute picture of a black lab with a red bandana around her neck up, you’ll have all the other black lab owners dropping by to tell stories about their own dogs.

Pinging, is how you tell the entire Blog community as a whole that your Blog site is up and running. Most Blog software has a feature that does this for you when a new post or comment has been made.

To put Blog software on your own server and running it independently on your site, I have found WordPress to be excellent software and this can be downloaded at WordPress.org

WordPress: The Search Engine Advantage

Blogging, Blogs, WordPress No Comments »

By default WordPress gives you the ability to choose if you want Search Engine Friendly URLS for your blog, but I’ve taken that a step further. You will only be able to follow the instructions I’m giving below if you already have WordPress installed.

If you have WordPress installed add this line of code to your “Permalinks” section:

/%postname%.htm

Input the above code into the line that says “Custom Structure” and ensure that you have the check placed in the “Custom, specify below” under Common Options. What this does is give your blog highly optimizable search engine friendly URLS. Every blog post you make will have a keyword rich URL based on the subject of your blog.

For example if your blog post was:

“Caribbean Recipes” your URL would be http://yoursite.com/caribbean-recipes.html

It’s a nice handy trick to get more search engine friendly URLS out of WordPress to ensure that your keywords appear not only in the subject but also in the page URL.
